Anthony Walsh was one of the most famous scooter riders and racing mechanics of the 1960s. Famously mentioned in many races from Crystal Palace in the 1960s to Cadwell Park up until 1985. He has now sold his collection but had retained his beloved TV200 engine until now. It is 230cc and modified and tuned for racing sidecars. The engine as used in all of the sidecar outfits that are pictured.
From Tony Walsh: ’The first photograph is of myself driving and Tony McGee passenger on the Isle of Man where I set the lap record for a sidecar on the Ballaugh Circuit’. This engine has been race tuned by me in 1968 and used for racing up to 1978, thereafter it was on display until 1985 when it was raced again. Since then it has been on display at my workshops. I think the time has come for me to sell it.’ Here is a chance to purchase a real piece of scooter racing history. It was the motor used in all of the attached pictures. Also comes with a signed letter of provenance.
Collection in person from the auction on the day or the following day is recommended for this lot.
