Introduced as the final evolution of Yamaha’s legendary RD350 lineage, the RD350R benefitted from years of development and refinement. Powered by Yamaha’s liquid-cooled 347cc parallel-twin engine with YPVS power valve technology, the model combined exhilarating two-stroke performance with improved chassis dynamics, braking and aerodynamic bodywork. Among the last high-performance road-going two-strokes produced by a major manufacturer, the RD350R remains highly regarded amongst enthusiasts and collectors alike.
First registered on 19th April 1991, this RD350R is offered from a deceased estate. Finished in black with red and silver graphics, the Yamaha presents in notably original condition and appears to retain its factory bodywork, silencers and instrumentation. Displaying 23, 474 miles at the time of cataloguing, the machine presents well throughout with only light signs of age and use commensurate with its years. At the time of our visit, the nearside engine casing had been removed and a replacement stator assembly from Westcountry Windings had been fitted. The flywheel was found detached from the engine and, together with the engine casing, was loosely reassembled for cataloguing and storage purposes. A retaining nut for the flywheel was not noted during inspection. The fuel tank and bodywork had also been removed and were loosely refitted to present the machine in complete form. Supplied with a V5C registration document, supplementary RD350 service manual and invoice from Westcountry Windings. The machine’s VIN tag was not present during cataloguing; however, the V5C records corresponding frame and engine numbers.
