Description
This lot will be auctioned via Iconic Auctioneers, The Classic Sale at CarFest 2026 on Saturday the 29th of August - Sunday the 30th of August, The Wing, Silverstone Circuit, NN12 8TN.
Introduced in 1985, the wide-body conversion offered by Dimma was based on the Peugeot’s T16 Group B rally car of that period. Unlike typical aftermarket body kits of the era, the Dimma styling package carried an official seal of approval from Peugeot, making it one of the most prestigious and highly sought-after modified vehicles of its generation
Roughly 250 official Dimma-converted 205s were built and sold through a dealer arrangement in the UK
Instantly recognisable, the wide-body kit consisted of flared arches, restyled bumpers, side skirts and distinctive multi-piece split-rim alloys. The rear wings featured distinctive, Testarossa-inspired strakes and cooling grilles
This 1987 example is a one-off project built by our vendor, an ex-Peugeot mechanic and enthusiast to replicate one he built a few years ago which "I wish I'd never sold"!
The car was purchased locally with the kit already on and further key components sourced over time, most recently the 2-litre 16v GTI6 engine
The engine is a standard xu10j2rs from a low mileage 306 gti6 and runs well. The conversion has been completed to a very high standard with all the correct conversion parts fitted and a custom loom to accommodate the standard ECU
Recent timing belt kit, coolant flush and full service, gear oil changed on the hybrid gearbox which uses a 1. 8 diesel 5th and final drive coupled to a Quaife LSD.
Suspension is by Gaz 'Gold' coil-overs and Gti6 brakes all round. The rear axle has been rebuilt and the essential "grease ****** fix" carried out
The interior has been upgraded with a 205 GTi Phase 2 'black' conversion with red carpets, Monaco cloth seats with black leather bolsters, a newly fitted gear knob and a red-stitched leather steering wheel.
Sitting on genuine Dimma 3-piece split-rims and listed on the Dimma UK Register, this subtly enhanced example offers a more modern level of performance in one of the most recognisable and striking hot-hatch designs of all time.
