For Sale: 1966 Ford Anglia 250 Van – Portuguese-Built, Highly Original & Wonderful Period History
Offered for sale is this left-hand drive 1966 Ford Anglia 250 Van, assembled in Portugal at the former Ford Lusitana factory in Azambuja.
Supplied new to the Douro Valley, this charming Anglia remained in the region from 1966 until 1990. During those years, it became a familiar sight around Pinhão and the surrounding villages, where it was affectionately known as "Princesinha do Estreitinho" ("The Little Princess of Estreitinho"), bringing entertainment to communities living far from the larger towns and cities.
Still proudly wearing its original "Princesinha do Estreitinho" signwriting, the van remains exactly as many local people remember it, giving it a unique provenance that simply could not be recreated today. It represents not only a rare Anglia 250 Van, but also a small and fascinating piece of Portuguese social history.
The engine starts and runs, and the van appears to retain a remarkable degree of originality throughout. The dashboard, interior, steel wheels, hubcaps, trim, engine bay and numerous other details all suggest that this is an honest, largely unmolested survivor rather than a vehicle that has undergone repeated restoration over the years.
Naturally, after almost six decades, it should be regarded as a restoration project. Bodywork repairs and mechanical recommissioning will be required to return it to its former glory, but its originality, authenticity and well-documented history provide an excellent foundation for a sympathetic restoration.
Finding an unmodified Ford Anglia 250 Van has become increasingly difficult, particularly one retaining so many original features together with such an interesting known history. Whether preserved with its unique identity or carefully restored to factory specification, this is an increasingly rare opportunity to acquire a genuine survivor with real character.

The van is located in northern Portugal, approximately 10 minutes from Porto International Airport, served by numerous direct low-cost flights from across Europe. I would be delighted to collect any genuinely interested buyer from the airport.
