Description
Built 15th-21st May 1964 with options of wire wheels, overdrive, heater, adjustable steering column, laminated windscreen and road speed tyres, EBW 372B is a very early example of the Austin Healey 3000 MkIII otherwise known as a Phase I car. The early Phase I cars had some very pretty and quirky features – they retained the early glass sidelights of the MkII, pioneered the 150BHP engine and ‘De-Luxe’ interior with walnut dash and featured a clever opening centre console armrest later ditched for cost and complexity reasons on Phase II.
Restored in 2005 by MPH Classics with 15, 500 miles since, but with a further paintworks in 2015 including replacement sills. During restoration EBW was sandblasted back to bare metal, the chassis jig restored and repaired, the engine full rebuilt and machined with new pistons, gearbox rebuilt, new steering box, new interior (again further refreshed in c. 2020 with the centre console and door tops re-trimmed). Post restoration the car was tuned by Ruddspeed and has had regular servicing since. In 2020 the grille and much of the front end chrome was replaced. Vredstein tyres were fitted in 2019 as was an additional electric radiator fan. The overdrive was refurbished in 2024.
EBW is a very pleasant to drive Healey with an excellent soundtrack from it’s healthy 150BHP straight six engine and straight through sports exhaust. The steering is precise and the suspension composed, the brakes healthy and the ride controlled.
Sold with new MOT, British Motor Heritage Certificate of authenticity, large paperwork history file including photographic documentation of restoration, service history.
