Description
Porsche 911 3. 0 SC
Some classic cars are defined by their specification; others by the remarkable stories they carry with them. This exceptionally original Porsche 911 SC is very much the latter.
Supplied new by Chick Iverson Porsche in Newport Beach, California, the car passed into the ownership of a lady in 1980, who would retain it for an extraordinary 38 years. It remained with her until 2018, when its current owner travelled personally to California to inspect the car before arranging for it to be shipped home to the UK.
The result is a wonderfully honest and remarkably preserved early 911 SC. Rather than being restored or cosmetically reinvented, the car remains largely untouched, with its originality proudly on display. There is age-related patina and areas where the paint has worn thin over the years, but this only adds to its character. It has the unmistakable appearance of a car that has lived a cherished life beneath the Californian sun—and possesses a warmth and authenticity that would be almost impossible to recreate.
As one of the earliest examples, manufactured during 1977, it retains several desirable early details, including the rare chrome window trim and its distinctive American-market headlamps. These features, combined with its left-hand-drive configuration and exceptional provenance, give the car a particularly special presence.
Its history is supported by the original paperwork and a substantial folder of invoices and receipts documenting the car’s life. This is not simply a collection of paperwork, but a fascinating record of a 911 that spent almost four decades with the same lady owner before beginning its next chapter in the UK.
Mechanically, the car drives exactly as it should, with no known faults. The air-cooled 3. 0-litre flat-six delivers the character, response and unmistakable soundtrack for which the early 911 SC has become so highly regarded.
This is an increasingly rare opportunity to acquire an exceptionally original and deeply characterful Porsche 911. It will appeal to the enthusiast who values provenance, preservation and authenticity above freshly restored perfection—a car whose wonderful patina and remarkable story deserve to be enjoyed and carefully preserved.
