Description
Originally supplied by Whichford Rover, Basingstoke on 1st September 1995, this Mini Cooper is finished in iconic British Racing Green with a contrasting white roof and bonnet stripes, complemented by a beige and black ‘Monaco’ interior. Power comes from a lively 1275cc single-point injection A-Series engine, producing around 62bhp through a four-speed manual transmission. Features include twin spot lamps, 12-inch Minilite alloy wheels, a Maniflow exhaust, upgraded audio system, alloy interior furnishings, a leather-trimmed ‘Cooper’ steering wheel and a burr walnut dashboard with magnolia-faced dials.
This is a Mini I know particularly well, having sold it to its latest owner in 2024. Prior to that, it had spent seven years in the care of another enthusiast, from whom I originally acquired the car. The latest custodian has been equally conscientious in preserving it, covering fewer than 150 miles during their two-year ownership. The Mini has been used exclusively in dry weather and, when not in use, carefully stored in a dehumidified garage.
Ultimately, it was this limited use that prompted the owner's decision to part with the car. Keen to preserve the Mini in the condition in which they acquired it, they became increasingly reluctant to venture out unless the weather conditions were ideal, preferring to keep it safely tucked away rather than risk exposing it to rain or deterioration. Having enjoyed taking the Mini to local shows over the past two years, where it was greatly admired, they eventually concluded that they simply weren't using it enough to justify keeping it.
Now displaying 63, 110 miles, the Mini presents very well throughout and has clearly been cherished during the two years since it was last in my care. The British Racing Green paintwork retains a deep, even finish, complemented by straight and well-aligned body panels. The original factory ‘body’ number remains present on the bonnet slam panel, while the inner wings display uniform spot welds and correct gaps are evident between the scuttle and tops of the wings. Vented sills are present on both sides and the chassis number is correctly etched into the front and rear screens. The glass, brightwork and exterior trim all remain in very good condition, as do the 12-inch Minilite alloy wheels, which were refurbished and fitted with new tyres in 2024.
Inside, the beige and black ‘Monaco’ cabin is clean and inviting, presenting very well for its age and mileage. The seats, carpet and headlining remain in excellent condition with no visible tears or damage. Elsewhere, the undercarriage remains in good condition and has benefited from Waxoyl protection.
On the road, the 1275cc injection engine feels strong and responsive, pulling cleanly through all four gears. The gearbox, fitted with a quick-shift, operates smoothly without any crunches on changes, while the Maniflow exhaust provides a purposeful but suitably restrained note. It remains a lively and engaging Mini to drive.
Supplied newly serviced and MOT’d, the Mini is accompanied by a history file dating back to the point of first registration, including the original stamped service book.
