Now available is this 1990 UK-supplied Mercedes-Benz 190E 2. 5-16 Cosworth Automatic, finished in black with a full black leather interior and showing 157, 000 miles from new.
The vehicle is registered MBZ 3882, an especially appropriate registration for a Mercedes-Benz, and this registration will remain with the vehicle as part of the sale.
This example comes directly to us from its long-term previous owner, who has informed us that he has owned the car for approximately 12 years, covering only around 3, 000 miles during that time.
A V5 keeper change is recorded in 2023; however, we have been advised that this relates to a change of address rather than an actual change of ownership.
There are also a number of invoices on file from an earlier period of ownership.

Previous owner stated:
“Dent and corrosion free restored and resprayed bodywork that presents well.
Original wheels – as new from Mercedes. Recent tyres. Interior in good condition for age. Vinyl lifting on door panels in places. Seats in good condition for age. Headliner, carpets and dashboard all in good condition. Upgraded aftermarket stereo. Everything works on the car.
For sale is my rare and desirable Mercedes 190E 2. 5 16 Cosworth that I have had for the last 12 years.
The car had a full body restoration with full respray circa eight years ago and is rust free and the black coachwork presents very well as a result.
The interior is also very good, being a desirable black-on-black car with matching full black leather, which also presents well.
Mechanically, the 204 bhp 2. 5 16V Cosworth engine is in fine fettle and performs very well alongside the smooth-shifting gearbox.
I am only selling the car as I just don’t use it enough.
The car will be supplied with a brand-new MOT and the private number plate is included with the car.

Our Assessment & Preparation
For its age and 157, 000 miles, we consider the Mercedes to present extremely well. It is not being offered as a concours example, but rather as a very good and usable example of this increasingly difficult-to-find model.
The previous owner advised us that the car underwent considerable body restoration and a full respray approximately eight years ago. Unfortunately, he has informed us that the invoices relating to this work were misplaced during a house move. We therefore do not have documentary evidence to substantiate the extent or cost of that restoration.
There are a handful of cosmetic items that we will be attending to prior to sale.
There is some lifting to the vinyl on the door cards, which we will rectify to the best of our ability. There is also a small tear to the driver’s seat, which again we will rectify to the best of our ability.
A trim piece is currently missing from around the driver’s door handle and will be replaced.
There is also a small area of lacquer peel to the corner of the bonnet and some minor paint defects to the rear spoiler, both of which we will attend to prior to sale.
Aside from these items, the black coachwork presents extremely well and the black leather interior remains in good condition for its age. The headlining, carpets and dashboard also present well.
Mechanically
We have driven the car and it drives very well. The 2. 5-litre 16-valve engine performs well and is paired with the comparatively rare automatic transmission.
Having covered very little mileage in recent years, we feel it would benefit from a service, tune-up and general check-over, all of which will be carried out prior to sale.
The previous owner has recently presented the car for an MOT. This recorded advisories including corrosion to the sills and a minor oil leak.
We have inspected the sill areas and the corrosion appears relatively minor.
We have been advised by the previous owner that the car has effectively been unused during the last couple of years. As it was SORN, he tells us that it was transported to the MOT station rather than driven, explaining the virtually unchanged recorded mileage.
