Description
The McLaren 12C marked the beginning of McLaren’s modern road-car range, bringing its experience in carbon-fibre construction and chassis engineering to a series-production supercar. Built around the carbon-fibre MonoCell, it pairs a 3. 8-litre twin-turbocharged V8 with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Its hydraulically interconnected suspension remains one of its most impressive features, combining precise handling with a remarkably supple ride.
This 2012 example has covered 19, 500 miles and is presented in deep navy blue, with contrasting orange detailing across the front splitter and side air intakes. The combination gives a subtle nod to McLaren’s traditional racing colour, while diamond-cut alloy wheels with dark inner sections complement the bodywork.
Inside, Carbon Black leather is paired with Silver Space Fabric across the seat centres and door inserts. A distinctive feature of the early 12C, this textured material lends the cabin a character of its own. Light contrast stitching and embossed McLaren emblems on the headrests complete the interior.
Extensive carbon-fibre detailing includes the centre console, Active Dynamics panel, door control surrounds and branded sill panels. A carbon-fibre and leather steering wheel continues the theme, while the black Alcantara headlining provides a softer finish overhead. Electrically adjustable seats, Meridian audio and dual-zone climate control make the cabin well suited to longer journeys.
The glass engine cover offers a view of the twin-turbocharged V8, while the dihedral doors and active rear airbrake remain recognisable McLaren signatures. With 19, 500 miles and a distinctive blue and orange colour combination, this example offers an appealing introduction to the car that established the foundations of the modern McLaren range.
