The Big Healey is a car of iconic style and perfectly balanced proportions. Its straight-six engine impresses with its flexibility, generous torque and characteristic soundtrack, making every journey a genuine pleasure.
The car presented here was first registered in the United States in 1967. It comes with an extensive file of invoices and period documentation spanning almost 50 years.
Its last American owner kept it for 25 years before selling it to its current French owner in 2022.
On its arrival in France, work was carried out on the engine ancillaries, the braking system, the chassis and the running gear to make the car particularly pleasant to drive.
Presented without bumpers and with ivory flanks for a sporty look, the car can be returned to its original specification for sale.
Mechanically, the straight-six starts easily, with no abnormal noises or smoke. It revs freely and fully expresses its character, enhanced by a stainless steel exhaust system with a resolutely sporting note.
The ignition system has been overhauled, including replacement of the voltage regulator, spark plugs and plug leads, and conversion to electronic ignition with a sport coil. The alternator was also replaced at the same time.
The gearbox offers precise guidance and crisp gear changes.
The clutch was replaced in 2022. A high-performance ball-bearing release bearing and an adapted mechanism have been fitted to provide smoother operation and greater reliability.
The overdrive is fully functional.
The running gear is sound, and many bushes have been replaced. There is no abnormal play, and the suspension performs its role perfectly, giving the car healthy and precise handling.
The braking system has not been neglected: the rear drums and wheel bearings have been replaced, while the front discs and pads are in good condition. Overall, the brakes are healthy and well balanced.
The car is fitted with new chrome wire wheels, shod with Pirelli tyres dating from 2021 and in excellent condition. A wire spare wheel also accompanies the car.
The bodywork presents very well. The paintwork has a fine, even lustre and the panel alignment is in line with the model's standards.
The underbody is in keeping with the rest of the car, sound and free from structural corrosion.
All the chrome is in perfect, gleaming condition.
The black vinyl upholstery, of good quality, is in excellent condition. It is complemented by GT2i safety harnesses, adding an extra touch of safety as well as a sporty look.
The interior is in very good overall condition. The woodwork, door panels and carpets are perfectly preserved.
Fitted with a wooden steering wheel and a Moto-Lita gear knob, the car enjoys a sporty yet elegant presentation that adds greatly to its charm.
The instrumentation is fully functional and long-range driving lights have been fitted.
The black vinyl hood is also in excellent condition.
