The once familiar P6 is now a rare sight on our roads full of boring lookalike modern cars, the P6 is a testament to fine automotive engineering and the preferred choice of many trusted professionals in their day.
The sight of any surviving example of the marque commands affection, respect and proves a real head turner, the wonderful sound of the burbling V8 as an added benefit.
This excellent white V8 is one of the finest, honest and original unrestored specimen I have seen in existence.
In terms of specification, this is most desired with its powerful 3. 5 litre engine, automatic transmission and without the problematic option of power steering.
At 36 years old and with a recorded mileage of only 107, 000 which is astoundingly low at less than 3, 000 per year since new.
The car is fitted with a professional immobiliser and alarm.
There are also the original optional front fog lights and rear fog lights have been fitted
Rear seat belts are also fitted.

BODY & PAINTWORK:
Finished in brilliant Arctic White, the car is very structurally solid throughout and was treated with Ziebart rust proofing injection from new. Close up there are slight signs of age and wear on the paintwork but overall a great looking car.
All the body panels are in lovely condition with no noticeable marks and the car appears rock solid underneath with no mention of any problems at the MOT inspection in April this year.
This is a very genuine car that has not required restoration and has been maintained to a very high standard. Even the number plates appear to be the originals.
All glass was etched from new with the registration and chassis number which are the same as now.
Overall, the paintwork is in lovely condition with a deep shine. There are a couple of very small marks, chips in the paint, but it is in far better condition than you would expect for a Rover of this age. Overall it is lovely car in good condition.
All chrome and fittings are in excellent order; however there is some light age related tarnishing to the bumpers but only noticeable close up, bow to the rear bumper.
The Brown vinyl roof has been professionally replaced recently and is in good condition with only a slight bird mess mark. The roof matches the brown sills and trim.
The bonnet badge is slightly faded through age but all still there.
INTERIOR & TRIM:
The interior is in a very honest, original, un-restored and un-molested condition. Trimmed in beige velour/ cloth, both front and rear seats have no rips, tears, or burns (slight ruffling of fabric on front seats but no problem) with matching beige carpets and the headlining is excellent (there is a small gap where the headlining meets the front screen just age).
The car has a Blaupunkt Melbourne Radio/ Cassette player (the cassette flap is missing)
This car is almost as it was when it rolled out of the factory some 36 years ago. Everything works as it should do and the car benefits from fully operational front and rear opening quarter-lights.
All four windows to door top rubbers have been replaced.
ENGINE & DRIVETRAIN:
Powered by Rovers’ proven 3. 5 litre V8 coupled to the automatic gearbox and without the problematic and leaky optional power assisted steering (also without it MPG and BHP are improved and it really is not needed).
A remarkably relaxed car to drive and then when asked to get up and go it is very surprising especially with the amazing sound of the big V8.
The P6 has covered 107, 000 miles with a new speedo head and drive fitted April this year with the old one kept for record purposes.
It has never overheated, even in heavy traffic and the engine has very good oil pressure even at tick-over when hot.
It has the automatic optional Kenlowe fan with switchable override fitted which assists in traffic.
The Gearbox and diff all operate correctly and the oil / fluid in both the engine and gearbox is nice and clean
There are no untoward clunks, knocks, bangs or noises and the car drives exactly as it should.
OTHER MATTERS:
The car stops very well, the handbrake works well and is effective.
The suspension sits very well and is without bangs or creaks.
The car is fitted with the original stainless steel wheel trims which are all present and in very good condition.
PAPERWORK:
The car is MOT’d until 26TH of April 2012 and until the end of this month 06-11.
The V5 (log book) is present as are the original handbook, the original radio/ cassette paperwork.

The various original engine bay stickers are all present and correct.
The car comes with two complete sets of keys.
SUMMARY:
To Summarise, this P6 3500 auto is a very honest and well-loved example of the marque; it has obviously been looked after throughout its lifetime and has many more years of enjoyable motoring to offer.
It now needs nothing more than someone to use and enjoy over the coming years and of course not forgetting the wonderful V8 soundtrack burbling away from behind to accompany you!
I am selling this and three other classics as after ten years I have finally managed to purchase a particular Jensen which belonged to a relative and basically I need the money to pay for a total restoration.
The Rover is ready to drive and enjoy with nothing I can see needed to be rectified.
