For sale is my much loved Sunbeam Alpine series 3 GT. The S3 cars are the rarest and best of the marque - still sporting the characteristic fins but also benefitting from removable hard top (not pictured) and wood dash and steering wheel. In brief the car has new front brake calipers and servo, new doors and cills, new chrome bumpers and grille. All of those panels and also the bonnet, roof and boot also have new paint.
Specification is; 1592cc engine, 4 speed manual with overdrive, front discs rear drums with servo assistance and it is running a pair of twin choke DelOrto DHLA 40 carbs. The exhaust is part stainless (the rear sections). It is standard and still has positive earth electrics and a dynamo. It is also equipped with factory painted "knock off" wire wheels.
This car was restored (photos available in the large history file) around 20 years ago and all of the above work/ replacement parts has been carried out in the last 2 years. It has just passed it's MOT with no advisories and is seeking a new home for unfortunate financial reasons. It is not concours condition; I would say it is more like condition 1 to 1. 5. I have done all of the hard and expensive jobs and used the car as a regular drive along the way. There are a few little bits of largely superficial and cosmetic work to be done but cars like this will always require little bits of tinkering. I have priced it accordingly - if it was in fully "finished" condition and requiring no work - it would be considerably more expensive.
Today I have added a boot and an under bonnet photo. They show, I hope, that the entire car was painted red rather than just the outer panels - this was a bare metal re-spray as is clearly shown in the history photographs. There is a lovely boot carpet (removed for the picture) and also an unmarked tonneau cover which I use regularly. I should also add that the rear screen in the hardtop is also new as of 18 months ago, as are both master cylinders. The list of new parts goes on....
