Description
This is the final evolution of the R90S, BMW's 1970s superbike, similar in appearance but with constant vacuum carbs instead of Dell'Ortos, providing more tractability. By BMW standards the R100CS was built in small numbers - only 4038 in four years.
This bike has covered some 42, 000 miles. I bought it from the VMCC's BMW marque specialist. It runs (in his words) exceptionally well, has road tax and MoT, and: stainless steel exhausts and silencers, paniers, crash bars (not fitted), tool kit, steering lock and cable lock, 'snowflake' cast alloy wheels, new front tyre, battery, carb diaphragms and cables. It has just had a full service, including all oils and filters.
I bought this bike to compare a late model of this series of sports bike with my first BMW - a 1936 R5, owned and loved in the 1950s. It is a superb machine, but too fast and too heavy for me, now in my late '70s. I shall stick to my 1935 KSS Velocette.
