For sale is my beautifully rebuilt 1964 Mini Cooper S recreation. The car is based on a standard 1964 Mini which has been reshelled into a new bodyshell that has been correctly back-dated to include Mk1 rear lights, boot lid, bonnet and grille. The focus of this build has been to enhance the Mini's inherent handling characteristics and increase performance through light weight(the car weighs 613kgs) rather than focusing on power making it a lithe, fun, tractable and reliable road car.
The car has been restored from top-to-bottom with all the parts fitted either being new, or reconditioned to as-new.
The specification is as follows:
Engine
The engine is a later A+ unit tuned to stage 1 that benefits from running on unleaded fuel and features electronic ignition making it a very practical proposition for everyday use. It is in excellent order using no oil or water and holds a solid 60+psi of oil pressure, even when hot. The gearbox is smooth and quiet with the added benefit a new clutch. The radiator is new and fitted with an additional 10" electric fan to supplement the engine driven fan.
• Stage 1 1275 engine
• SU HIF44 carburettor
• LCB exhaust manifold and a 1. 75" Maniflow centre exit exhaust system
Chassis
The focus of the chassis has been to enhance the famous capabilities of the Mini and reduce weight. The brakes are light to use and well-modulated and it goes without saying will stop the car on a pin-head! The coilover conversion retains all the charm of the Mini’s suspension but eliminates the "bounciness" associated with the rubber donuts and allows fast (wheels-on) height and damping adjustments (no Hi-Lows here!). The car has just had a full geometry set up at Tolman Motorsport (this was a full 6 hour session starting from scratch) so is razor sharp and changes direction like a hornet!
• New 10x5 Dunlop D1 Alloy wheels with 165/ 70/ 10 Yokohama A008 tyres.
• Front Mini Sport 4-pot callipers with 7. 9" vented, grooved discs (the largest brakes you can get under 10" wheels)
• Rear minifin alloy drums
• Servo assisted master cylinder
• Suspension converted to height and damping adjustable Gaz coilovers (no rubber donuts)
• Adjustable front suspension lower arms and tie bars
• Rear beam axle replacing rear subframe utilising radius arms on camber adjustable mounts
• Poly bushes throughout
Exterior
The exterior has been finished in a subtle RAL Tweed Grey shade with a black roof. The roof skin is carbon fibre and replaces the original steel skin. This has then been vinyl wrapped for protection and to make it fit with the period theme of the car; this can be easily removed to expose the carbon should you want to. New front and rear screens have been fitted with new seals throughout. As mentioned above the car has been built into a new Heritage bodyshell which has been correctly back-dated to include Mk1 rear lights, boot lid, bonnet and grille.

• Dummy second tank (main tank is the larger 7. 5 gallon capacity)
• Carbon fibre roof skin (replacing steel skin) which has been vinyl wrapped to keep the car looking period
Interior
The interior has been kept as minimal and period looking as possible and features new trim and panels throughout. It's a lovely place to be with the original '64 centre clocks, wooden Nardi wheel and classic Speedwell seats.

As you can see from the specification and pictures this car is the best of Mini, with great performance underpinnings, enough modern equipment to make it a real joy to use and best of all stunning retro looks.
