Description

For sale is my wonderful, fires on first prod of kickstart restored 1956 Triumph matching numbers Triumph T100 500cc twin. A really great example of this marque of machine.

This machine was verified by Triumph Owners Club Machine Registrar, Richard Wheadon as having the original numbers with which it left the Triumph Factory, Meriden on 15th February 1956 being supplied to Premier Motor Company, Birmingham, although somewhere in its history it lost it's original UOH 267 number which was replaced with the three number three letter registration 990 XUK.

Its history is fairly well known and it remained in long term ownership from mid 1970’s through till 2005, during which time the bike was off the road for a lengthy period and the original numberplate seems to have been reissued. The bike then changed hands and the new owner in 2007 commenced a full and comprehensive restoration.

Restoration work was professionally carried out to a very high standard including a total engine and gearbox rebuild which was undertaken by Martin Wilson former technician with Alan Jefferies. Original parts have been utilised with one or two minor exceptions resulting in a great example of the best of British motorcycle production of the 1950’s.

There are around £4000 worth of receipts which in addition to engine and gearbox also details magneto, dynamo regulator and the complete restoration of the original speedometer thus retaining the original toatal mileage of the bike which at the time the restoration was completed and and the registration / allocation of its current registration plate in September 2007 was just 35, 700 miles.

990 XUK now has now covered a little over 4000 miles since the restoration was completed – the actual mileage today being 39, 731 miles. Being pre 1960 it is now excempt from MOT testing and of course eligible for tax excemption but I am more than happy to arrange at cost to the buyer a new 12 month voluntary MOT should you wish.

This macine is a first kick and away, head turning machine with which I have one several Show 1st's, it has been sympathetically restored and the the only known fault is minor oil seepage from the inlet valve rocker spindle which needs it’s o ring replacing.

I am in the process of selling this bike and a 1950 Model 7 Norton (in similar condition) as I am having to make room in my "on the road and in use collection" for a couple of other early british bikes..... and for no other reason whatsoever.

My first form of communication is via e mail as I suffer from various cancers which can cause me difficulty in using the phone - so if you have any questions or would like to arrange viewing please e mail me including a land line phone number (I am unable to dial out to mobiles) and I will answer as quickly as possible.

Bike has an agreed value of almost £8k and a dealer has already offered to sell it for me and return to me at least my asking price but I prefer to give fellow Classic Bike enthusiasts the benefit of being able to purchase this great machine without paying the dealer premium.

****** PLEASE NOTE ******

I have had several people leave BT1571 answer phone messages asking me to text them as I do not have a mobile I am unable to do this so if you are do not get a reply please as requested leave a land line phone number or better still select the contact seller by e mail I check e mails 2 or 3 times a day.

Matt
