Beschreibung
A completely renovated example of an early and quite rare lowlight Minor convertible. Finished in original dark green with beige leather seats and russet brown carpets.
New beige mohair hood and hood-bag.
Reconditioned 1098cc engine and running gear, re-chromed, new wiring loom and alternator, brakes relined with new cylinders and pipework, 5 new radial tyres.
Functioning trafficators with flashing indicators fitted for better visibility(though these can fold away).
The car started life as a lowlight saloon in Malta before being re-imported and registered in UK in 1952.
It was taken off the road in early ‘70s, the bodyshell stripped and primed but then work stopped and the car was put into dry storage.
I acquired the car in 2010 to undertake complete bare metal rebuild. The original side-valve engine was incomplete and not original to the car so the decision was made to rebuild it as a tourer using a reconditioned 1098 engine (supplied by specialist Ivor Seale), making the car well able to keep up with modern traffic conditions. The conversion to tourer and 1098 running gear was all professionally carried out by a Minor specialist. There is a full photographic file available of the rebuild.
The original lowlight-type window frames and quarter lights are with car but need refurbishment.
Downsizing to a smaller house, so either the Minor or my 1934 Standard Nine has to go (but I'm still re-trimming the Nine!)
