I have been asked by an elderly friend to offer this much loved car for sale as it has had very little use over the past year or so and now due to ill health his driving career is sadly over. The car is the lovely V8 Daimler (Mk2 Jaguar shape) fitted with the borg-warner auto gearbox and is in the deep midnight blue which really gives the car class. The paintwork is in very good condition with minimal blemishes, one door was repainted many years ago and in some light looks to be a shade lighter. There is no rust bubbling as any blemishes that have appeared during the 30 year plus ownership have been dealt with professionally. The front wheel arches and front panel were replaced by Lynx Engineering (renowned D-Type Jaguar specialist) some 10 or 12 years back and the repair is as perfect as when it was done. The interior is light coloured leather and in good condition with a nice patina and the superb woodwork trim has lasted well. The carpets are good but do have the normal wear and tear. The exterior chromework is in good condition and very presentable. The underside of the car is very clean and rust free and has recently benefitted from new rear spring mounts. The tyres are all Vrederstein and have very little wear. The engine runs very well and quietly but it does suffer from either worn valve stem seals or worn valve guides as it had a tendancey to emit smoke so a 'top end' overhaul is necessary at some point. The car has done very few miles in the last few years and the auto gearbox seals have I suspect deteriorated as it leaks auto transmission fluid, this again I would suggest a auto box overhaul to cure this problem. The car drives extremely well without any clonks and rattles and has covered only 100 of so miles since it's last MOT test in Sept 2014 (now expired and not renewed). The total mileage in just over 100, 000. The car is offered at a realistic price in view of the mechanical work required and will make an excellent eye catching show car or for weddings.
