Description
1965. Singer Chamois. Original colour grey, black vinyl upholstery and red carpets.
First registered 1st September 1965 to a Mr W. E Corbett of Mansfield the car has had 8 subsequent owners.
Since acquiring the car in January 2014 the current owner has commissioned a thorough professional body shell restoration of this very original car, with photographs to prove the work carried out, and a complete respray to a high standard.
Apart from a de-camber of the front suspension and replica Minilite alloy wheels the car appears standard, however a previous owner has installed MK11 Imp sport engine and transaxle with sport twin Strombergs and oil cooler. The engine runs very well with correct oil pressure and water temperature, and the gearbox synchros are good. Prior to obtaining a fresh MOT all the brake wheel cylinders were replaced and a new set of tyres fitted.
The early build date makes this example F. I. A and F. I. V. A eligible for many historic race and rally events, but its lively performance makes for great driving fun as an everyday usable classic, for less than half the price of a MINI Cooper and a lot more refined.
