Description
This very interesting and unusual Renault "Monastella" Cabriolet dates from 1927 and features Renault's delightful 1. 5 litre 6 cylinder engine, which was a new introduction for this model. Other advanced original features include a mechanical servo braking system on all 4 wheels and 12 volt electrics. The car carries its original coachbuilt cabriolet body by Mauguy of Paris and carries a plate identifying that firm. It is beautifully built and features solid wood door cappings and dashboard surround along with other quality fittings and ancillaries. The hood is in fine condition and works correctly. The "dickie" seat is another feature of the model and is all present and correct. An older restoration, the paintwork is in smart condition and the upholstery is excellent, in light blue cloth. Recent improvements include new ignition coil, condenser, improvements to the novel "extra fuel" cold starting system, brakes adjusted, new carpets etc etc. The car is a very good starter and drives nicely, with surprising performance for its year and sits on 4 excellent Michelin tyres. All in all, this is a beautiful and extremely unusual coachbuilt example of the revolutionary Renault Monasix, with its legendary 6 cylinder refinement and advanced features. It would be equally suitable for open-air, or weather-protected vintage touring, or for showing as the rare and interesting vehicle that it is. Part exchange considered against any interesting vehicle.
