I originally bought this as a spares source to use on my other Discovery projects, but the more I looked and drove this gem, the more I realised it would be a real shame to lose another of these early 3 door Discovery’s.
So, here it is for sale as a project or lovely land/ logging car if you are lucky enough to have the private land and the requirement for a cool workhorse – it really does drive nicely!
It’s quite an unusual 3 door 200tdi as it has windy windows, usually only found on very early models, and because of this it also has a rare cubby bin where the window switches usually are – I’d never actually seen a car with one of these before!
Another slightly unusual feature, the period, original body decals which have additional chevrons - obviously added to by the main dealer at point of sale – again, I’ve never seen these before.
The body is corroded in all the usual problem areas, and although not the worst I’ve seen, it would require restoration if the car were to be used on the road and/ or presented for MOT.
The body panels are straight and original, with no obvious signs of paintwork – it all looks original and would present quite well if mopped.
Interior isn’t bad at all, and would clean up nicely with time and effort. Original LR mat set, even if a bit faded.
Engine starts well, runs sweetly with a smooth gearbox/ clutch operation and no graunchy second, judder, or backlash. Hi/ Lo & Diff Lock all work too.
Wheels are original alloys which were in the early options catalogue for the Discovery on launch, although they have been over-painted at some point. There is a spare too with a locking wheel nut and key!
5 former keepers, 175K on the clock, obviously no MOT, oh and it has a tow-bar with twin electrics.
That’s about it I think.
I have more pictures, am more than happy to chat all day about it, and I’d genuinely like it to go for restoration!
