Here we have for sale this smart Series 3 hard top, with full deluxe interior.
On the outside, lots of period features survive such as the front and rear lamp guards, rear mudflaps, original galvanised cappings and two-tone colour to the roof and sides. Some nice modern additions have been made, such as the recently refurbished 750 tyres on Limestone Wheels and towbar and electrics. The front wings have had chequer plate added for additional strength, and period badging adorns the front grill to give a vintage look. Spots are fitted at the rear of the vehicle, and although these are not currently wired, this can be done to allow extra rear illumination if required.
On the inside, the vehicle has deluxe matting in addition to deluxe seating in the front for three with two diagonal outer belts with a centre lap belt for the middle seat passenger - an expensive option at the factory. The rear, although unfitted, could house bench seats on request to allow seating for seven. Out on the road, this old girl drives well, giving a pleasing period driving experience which is aided by the larger rubber to give a more relaxed cruising experience and reduce cabin noise. The Weber Carb conversion gives increased power and reliability, which is helpful when getting to speed.
In summary then, if you are looking for a Series 3 which won't break the bank whilst appreciating in value, then this could be for you. With upcoming tax exemption subject to application to the DVLA and classic insurance, it should prove cheap to run as well as being fun to own and enjoy.
