THE BIKE
1998 Ducati 916SPS. No. 486. 996cc motor. Ridden 828km/ 515 miles on sunny days until 2000, then only after servicing, for checks. It's as new, as from factory. Bought from Uptown Motorcycles, Dunedin, then an official factory dealer, on 1 May 1998. An NZ new bike. Never registered, but has VIN plate. Comes with factory accessories: standard Termignoni silencers, factory carbon rear wheel hugger, rear wheel stand, factory manuals, chips, etc., as well as many magazine articles on this model, as well as some of the factory crate.
SERVICING
Engine oil (Motul) and filters and coolant changed regularly, even though not started. Matt, at Hamilton Motorcycles did the last two major services, liquids, belts, plugs etc. even though bike unused between services. Both Dave Shand at Uptown and Matt have done both factory recalls.
FAULTS
The right hand headlight (dipped beam) has a crack in the glass, though still works. A complete new unit obtainable cheaper from UK than NZ. Original battery present, but dead.
PRICE/ VALUE
An identical bike to mine, with 19 miles on the clock (mine has 515 miles), sold months ago for $US37, 000, around GBP27, 835 plus shipping and import fees to UK.
