This is a unique opportunity to create the Charger of your choice or restore to original. Its a 1970 318 car that had one owner in the states for 30 years from new. It then went to a 70 charger registry member who had a new trunk floor, inner and outer rear wings and some chassis repairs done. He then ran out of money and put it on e-bay.(I was told he spent $12000, but have no proof)
I bought it from the person who imported it in 05 and am the third owner. I had it MOT'd and on the road in 06 but the headliner fell down at the front so I decided to have some restoration work done (the rear end was in primer as well). It was stripped down to a bare shell and sent for eco dipping and electro coating at a cost of £2220. It removes every bit of rust and the coating is weld through so any repairs can easily be sorted.
If I were keeping it I would fit a complete front floor section and repair other areas that have not been done to the best standards (around screen etc). The new rear wings need welding on at the top or maybe replacing with the better ones now available. The hood, doors and trunk are all very good.
I found the broadcast sheet under the rear seat and it is a matching numbers car. The engine has done 100, 000 miles, it's an automatic and has front disc brakes.
The original colour is FK5 dark burnt orange.
The interior is black but it will need some new foam and covers and carpets. I have eveything that came off the car, the engine and box are back in along with the axles to enable it to be moved around.
The price is non negotiable, if I can't get the asking price it will go into storage as I believe it can only go up in value, even as a project.
Once finished properly it will be worth £20, 000 plus (probably more if you make it a 440 six pack or hemi clone) and can only increase in value over the coming years. You could also make some money back by renting it out for various functions, videos etc.
Its also the rarest of the 68, 69 and 70 models with 50, 000 units compared to 100, 000 of each of the 68/ 69 models.
