MOT exempt as of May 2018. Has had fairly recent MOTs. V8 petrol, RHD. Dinky Model as made by Land Rover®. High ratio transfer box.
We have finally decided to part company with our 101, which has been within the company for several years. This is due to having finished a long term restoration of it, and subsequently not using it!
We bought this truck in good order a number of years ago, but it had a horrible diesel engine fitted that we tolerated whilst we undertook a body refurbishment - it was, we suppose, a rolling style of restoration, where we added and improved as we used it for moving things and people around. It had a fairly comprehensive refurb prior to featuring in a big wedding at York Minster.... but still retained its diesel unit at that point. It has also been involved in collecting the Christmas tree each year due to its size and off road capability - becoming affectionately known as "the christmas tree wagon."
As we fell in love with this fab 101 (and turned down substantial offers to buy it due to it being the subject of a Land Rover® model (this will be included in the sale!) we decided that the diesel engine had to go...... a correct 3. 5 V8 was sourced, and then was FULLY rebuilt at great expense. Many new parts were fitted - refurbished twin SU's and lots of ancilliaries to make it reliable from the start. The engine and engine bay was fully detailed and looks amazing. When we had it down the road, we noticed that the gearing ratios (correct gearbox) were quite close for all that OOOOMPHH, so we fitted higher ratio transfer gears. This has transformed the ride, and made it a very capable on road vehicle.
This vehicle has wanted for nothing, and been improved without regard for cost at all. There has ben much work undertaken not mentioned - it has parabolic springs so rides really nicely, a recent battery, new dizzy, coil, HT leads to make it reliable..... a new canvas to the outside just to make it look better..... and we have worked hard to get as many things working as they should!
The chassis is really good, and we only managed to find one small weak area which was repaired years ago. It was schultzed too to preserve it.
The bodywork is nice, and the interior matches, having had much love lavished on it over the course of our ownership.
Now it's surplus to requirements, it's here to be sold - it's on the button, but still needs to be run in as it's only done 100 miles since the engine rebuild. It's a delight to drive and has low miles, as was quite common.
If you are looking for a well cared for 101 with interesting provenance, then this "one off" is worth considering.
