The car in our sale was first registered in Spain in 1991. Today the odometer shows a little less than 124 000 km. In 2017, the current owner entrusted a Peugeot dealer with major maintenance and restoration work. This 309 GTI 16 was entirely resprayed in its original tone of Futura grey and the wheels were also repainted. The electric blue carpets which were a feature of this model, are in good condition, as are the 405 MI 16 type bucket seats. The mechanical organs of the car were thoroughly overhauled : new timing belts, water pump, camshaft and battery were fitted. The rubber bushes and arms of the front suspension were renewed and the rear suspension had a standard exchange. The rear wheel bearings and all the flexible brake hoses are new. The car is therefore in particularly good mechanical and cosmetic condition, which is unusual for a model which has often been harshly used and badly maintained. The strong impression which the 309 GTI 16 when new left in the minds of a whole generation of teenagers means that it is now one of the most eagerly sought after youngtimers.
