Beschreibung

Here is my very nice replica of the iconic RC166 250cc 6 cylinder race bike. As most of you will already know only a small number of frames and engines were manufactured by Honda during the mid 60s to compete in grand prix's.

This bike has been painstakingly built by a retired aeronautical engineer with @ 1500 hrs over a 3 year period having gone into all aspects of design manufacture and build etc.. It is based on a Honda CB400-4 frame and has been modified to accept the CBR250RR DOHC M|C14E engine.

The V5 is from the original CB400-4 with the correct ammendment to reflect the change of engine -so both frame and engine numbers are correct. The V5 has also been amended to ‘Historic vehicle’ so is now tax and Mot exempt. The bike comes with a road going kit - quieter exhaust system -4 into1 , rear number plate and rear lights.

The alloy tank is by Peter Kyte who made the tanks for George Beales Six replicas. The fairing and seat are f/ glass. There are numerous brackets/ gussets, tubes, instruments, fairing supports, brake and gear levers, catch tank and front sliders that have been fatihfully manufactured or modified to replicate the original 'six' items.
The 4 into 6 exhaust system was the most difficult item and took the previous owner over 2 months get right -but it was worth it as the sound is awesome!

The bike was featured in both MCN and Classic motorcycle mechanics (copies on file) and also won 'Best race bike in show' at a recent Bristol classic motorcycle show. It has featured in the Grand prix paddock at the Stafford international classic show and in the Mallory pk 1000 bikespast masters/ RC replica demonstration.
It also attended the Mike Hailwood weekend at Castle Combe. It has in the main been used for static events and a few parades.

There is a huge documentation/ history file, plus side stand and rear paddock type stand that hooks up to fitted 'cotton reels'. It has a remote car battery starter pack or can be easily started by being 'paddled' in 2nd gear.

So in summary it is a pretty well known bike having attended numerous show around the UK over the last few years.

I think its safe to say that an original 'Six' is unlikely to come onto the open market and if it did would understandably command a very high price, so Replicas are accepted as being the next best thing. Admittedly it isnt in the same class as the George Beale or very recent Allen Milyard offerings, and is in my opinion priced accordingly.
