Description
Wasp RT2 classic twinshock sidecar outfit (road legal)
Classic British Motocross outfit manufactured in December 1973. Previously used as an off-road competition machine and first registered (by me) in March 2015 on age related plate.
This Wasp outfit was originally a motocross outfit from the days when Norton powered Wasps were winning world championships, and this one would have been fitted with a Norton twin engine. Prior to my ownership it was fitted with a Yamaha TDM850 parallel twin engine for power, reliability and electric starting! I road registered it for long distance trials. I had the carbs serviced by Allen's Performance and fitted a Facet electric fuel pump. I had a new rear swingarm, rear wheel and disk brake fitted by Wasp Motorcycles. It has Renthal handlebars, fitted handguards and I have just fitted a new battery.
The outfit has successfully completed all 7 MCC trials that it has entered over 3 years of ownership. It is fully road legal with front and rear lights, horn, indicators, and a digital speedometer. It is tax exempt but the MOT expired in March this year. I have not renewed as I expect it to be exempt when the new MoT exemption rule are introduced this month (from May 20, 2018, vehicles over 40 years old will be exempt from MoT testing on a rolling basis).
This is my 'spare' outfit but I need to clear some garage space, so its now for sale. With a little modification it could be used for motocross, beach racing, trails, enduro or just as it is for a lot of fun on or off road! I do also have the nose-cone and seat unit for compliance with ACU trials regs.
