MATCHLESS G45
1955 ex Malcolm Clark
Here is a once in a lifetime opportunity indeed to acquire a beautiful Matchless G45
At the 1953 Senior TT, eleven G45s went for the start and four reached the finish line, the following year brought a similar scenario, with 10 finishers from 14 starters. The G45 was superseded by the G50.
This bike has been has been in the ownership and raced very successfully by the well-known classic racer Malcolm Clarke. Meticulously maintained to the highest stands and is one of the best. Sadly the time has comes to part with this gem and raise funds for the grandchildren’s housing fund.
Magnificent example a very rare and beautiful motorcycle that would not only make a great investment but would be a worthy addition any serious motorcycle collection. When do you ever get the opportunity to buy a G45 outside of the top auction houses?
Recently undergone complete engine and gearbox overhaul including new nikocile cylinder liner and piston, 5-speed cluster fitted into Burman style gearbox, currently fitted with primary chain drive but there is a Newby belt drive and a range of sprockets for different circuits. Just Google Malcolm Clarke and you will see this this bike being raced. His favourite track was Brands but he used to do rather well at the Goodwood revival on this bike and also his Matchless G50, which I also happen to own.
The photo showing the G45 was taken at the Goodwood Revival in 2008 both Malcolm and co rider Dave Degens competing in the Barry Sheen Memorial Trophy in which they finished 9th. Prior to that meeting in previous years Malcolm competed very successfully in the Lansdowne cup series.
The chance to buy this G45 classic Matchless racer very seldom comes along, this is a unique chance not to be missed with less than 80 were produced over a 3 year period from 1953 to 1955 with only a handful now left.
Condition wise can only be described used concours category.
