This car is a 1977 Triumph Spitfire 1500 overdrive in Vermillion. It came to us as a bereavement sale and with various classic vehicles in work at the moment we are offering it here as a project, although it is running and driving and has a full MOT. The mileage is 77, 000 and it has had just 3 owners from new although the V5 shows 3 previous as it was registered by the selling agent when the last owner died. The body is solid and all steel with good panel gaps but there are various minor paint imperfections, the underside and chassis look to be in good order, the engine starts easily and sounds strong and sweet and the car is running and driving.
There are various areas for improvement – the interior is a little scruffy with a tear in the driver’s seat cloth and the under-bonnet has been covered with waxoyl and under-seal. One front brake caliper was sticking – we freed it off for the MOT but suspect that it may need stripping/ replacing and the gearbox drops out of 3rd on the over-run – so a gearbox overhaul/ replacement may be required although the overdrive is working fine.
Fitted with a modern style CD radio and twin exhausts. Comes with luggage rack, spare keys, tonneau cover, some spares, history file and spare keys. 12 months MOT. New battery just fitted.
