After the first war, like many car manufacturers; Mercedes spent a short period from 1923 producing bicycles. Unique to Mercedes was the distinctive V shape head stock tube and head badge along with the V shaped dropped racing handlebars. I can only find reference to two other know Mercedes bicycles. A ladies bicycle which was sold by Bonhams Auctioneers at their Mercedes Stuttgart sale in 2015. The other bicycle is similar to this bicycle which is apparently on display on the Stuttgart Mercedes Museum.
This particular bicycle has a frame number of M16860. 56cm frame with 700c wood Pneumatic rims. 1926 Sachs Torpedo rear coaster brake hub. Nearly built wheels with black enamel spokes and nickel plated 1" spoke nipples. V shaped headstock tube with engraved brass Mercedes head badge. Period chainset with rat trap pedals. Leather racing saddle. V shaped racing handlebars with period cork grips, plunger front brake and brass bell.
The wooden rims are made by Ghisallo on Italy and are period new old stock fitted with brand new Cream tyres and fresh inner tubes.
The bicycle is real to ride, and would represent a a rare and important addition to any motoring collection, particularly one which was devoted to Mercedes.
Consider interesting vintage or Veteran Bicycle, Cyclercar, Lightcar or motorcycle in part-exchange.
