You could spend considerably more on an Italian coachbuilt grand tourer, but why would you when the E24 is just so good? Sharknose styling, courtesy of Paul Bracq, smooth straight sixes and the usual BMW approach to driver engagement make these four-seat coupes rewarding and surprisingly practical classics.
The 635CSI is the popular choice because it provides the firm’s powerful M30B34 engine, which is good for 215bhp. Most opted for the auto box, as here, which suits the 6-Series’ relaxed, long-legged demeanour.
