The Appeal
You could spend considerably more on an Italian coachbuilt grand tourer, but why would you when the E24 is just so good? Sharknose styling, courtesy of Paul Bracq, smooth straight sixes and the usual BMW approach to driver engagement make these four-seat coupes rewarding and surprisingly practical classics.
The 635CSI is the popular choice because it provides the firm’s powerful M30B34 engine, which is good for 215bhp. Most opted for the auto box, as here, which suits the 6-Series’ relaxed, long-legged demeanour.
Considering how usable and enjoyable these cars are, it is a surprise to discover this smart red ‘87 635CSI has only covered 60,350 miles from new. We’re told the mileage is genuine and the history file and MOT records point in that direction. The vendor acquired the car in 2022 and has entrusted it to specialist Munich Legends ever since. Work has involved the steering, brakes and fuel system in 2023, including a new fuel tank. There are invoices for over £3,000.
With low owners, low miles and a lengthy MOT to July 2026, this tidy and well-presented E24 will appeal to enthusiasts.
