Description

1986 Alfa Romeo Alfetta GTV, 2. 0 Nord engine, this is a beautiful car that very much deserves to go back on the road sooner rather than later, unfortunately with a demanding job and young family I know that I?m unlikely to get the time to resurrect this car anytime soon
(this isn?t my only Alfa) so this car is up for grabs and presents a really good opportunity for someone.

Starting with the good bits, well look at it, it?s a beautiful complete car in the best colour, the Alfa Rosso paintwork is very good (there's photographic evidence of a bare shell respray) and polishes up beautifully, there is just 2 scrapes along on side where it's been caught coming out a garage at some point, yet an easy touch up for the right skilled person. Interior is very good, the seat are generally excellent for this period and the carpet appear new, the tyres are all matching Pirellis centuratos, never done any miles and just a few years old, virtually new Bilstein shocks and performance springs all round, new alloy radiator, lightweight starter motor, Bosch battery and overall a very nice presentable engine bay. The car generally presents very well and sits just right (when all the tyres are inflated), the panel fit and door shuts are particularly good. In the not too distant past the last owner went to great lengths and expense to get this car back on the road, fitting most of the above but also other things such as new locks, glass, trim etc - all those small parts that generally add up to a small fortune. Unfortunately he has trusted the wrong people at some phase to carry out work underneath, where the principle tools used was a filler knife and sealant gun.

It is a largely solid UK car, good doors, floor pans and boot floor, sills mostly intact and solid, no horrendous bodgery to be unpicked anymore, I?ve removed a good 80% of the underseal from underneath to allow the bodywork to be properly assessed which I would strongly advise (this is a 1980?s Alfa after all), a ramp is available to allow good access. My honest appraisal now would be all it's sins are exposed underneath and it is ready to be treated to proper repairs.

I did have the car running briefly though the fuel pump is stuck, I?ve removed the old fuel line, fuel tank and exhaust to allow access, I?ve never driven the car though from conversations with the previous owner the engine is believed to be good and healthy. The oil is golden and clean, no signs of any oil leaks and all the gaskets, hoses, leads etc visible in the engine bay look almost new. A sure sign it's had what it needed and no expense has been spared.

The main issue with this car is rust, the rear inner arches will require some repair as will the front, there is some rust in the front part of the inner sills, it is very far from a basket case though it isn't a weekend job either, if you are a welder and fabricator then this is a car you
could viably put back on the road in a few months and easily turn a significant profit, as far as I?m aware the only expenditure required to bring about a road worthy car is a rebuild kit for the 0/ S rear caliper, steel and time. I have a number of photos from a previous restoration, full set of keys and V5, I?ve sourced a correct genuine Alfa Romeo alfetta GTV air box from Belgium and a genuine Alfa Romeo badge to replace the faded one on the boot.

This really is a great project and great opportunity to invest in a car that is rapidly increasing in value. Present with the car is a number of spares and a few bits and pieces that need to be put back on including sunroof and bits of interior trim.
