It’s a Lancia. It’s a LANCIA. It’s absolutely magnificent.
To start with, this car makes hen’s teeth look plentiful. At present there is only one of these in the UK and this is it. Aside from that, it is also even more unique in that it is the original car from the Paris motorshow, showcasing the then new 3. 2 V6 ‘Busso’ engine.
Whatever you think of the rest of the car (it certainly divides opinion fairly regularly) that engine does do honour to it’s legendary status as being one of the best sounding engines ever made. Put it this way, I am normally not one to rev a car engine unnecessarily but in this one that is a fairly addictive pastime… Add to that the plentiful and very smooth power and fabulously managed gear change and within a very short space of time the car is well and truly under one’s skin. That’s even before you get to the alcantara interior, magnesium vents on the dashboard or the solar panel in the roof (to keep the battery topped up of course). The bi-colour paint is also very rare, in fact I have never seen another, photographed or otherwise with this particular colour pairing.
To sum it up, Lancia threw everything they had at this car and compromised nowhere in an effort to offer something truly different to the standard German offerings. The detailing on it is sublime, and everything absolutely reeks of bespoke quality and minute attention to detail that really does put those German makes to shame. Even the glovebox and head rests are electrically opened and adjusted respectively. The appearance of the engine is beautiful too - it is very familiar to those who know the Alfa Romeo version of this engine, but finished in a distinctively Lancia fashion.
I am selling it for that time worn old reason of having too many cars, and this car in particular is so unique and well preserved that it isn’t one I could consider using every day. Having said that, it definitely could be. The condition is near flawless. I have replaced the front polished aluminium bumper trims due to slight scuffing and additionally, new rear ones will be included in the sale. Other than that there is one stone chip on the bonnet and the alloys show minor signs of use but that’s about it. The number plate is not included and the car will revert to it’s original plate that was issued when it was first registered in the UK. It has switchable headlamps for driving on the left (why don’t all cars?) so it is road legal in the UK and doesn’t dazzle other drivers.
