Lotus Excel 2. 2 SE (Eclat) 2d coupe 1987 60k miles 2 owner blue good history
An original, unrestored car first registered on 18th November 1987 that has been owned by my father for 35 years since December 1989 and is still only showing 60, 092 miles.
It‘s dry stored in his garage and has only done just over 2000 miles in the last 18 years!!
It’s not been used for the last 5 years and he’s therefore decided that it’s now time to pass it on to a new owner.
We spent £500 with a Lotus specialist who checked it all over, fitted a new petrol pump and battery and took it out for a short test drive.
We then got a new MOT in March with only two advisories:
Front Upper Suspension component ball joint dust cover severely deteriorated both sides (5. 3. 4 (b) (i))
Service brake binding but not excessively (1. 2. 1 (f))
We weren’t happy having an issue with the brakes, so got the front callipers both fully refurbished at a cost of £620.
It now starts, runs, drives, accelerates and ticks over really well
Comes complete with two ignition and door keys and two remote fobs for the aftermarket alarm and immobiliser, which appears to be fully functional.
It comes with a good history file with past service records, MOTs and bills for over £4000, including a new clutch at 55, 678 miles.

Lotus 2. 2 litre engine with manual gearbox
The bodywork and paint is all straight & original and generally in good condition, with only a few small blemishes and scuffs, but these do not detract from the overall smart appearance and beautiful metallic blue colour.
The grey cloth Interior is in fairly good condition, with a few minor marks and scuffs, but no tears or holes in the seats. The carpets are also good with little wear, having been protected by over mats during his ownership.
Please note that the passenger electric window is sticking and only works with some assistance, similarly the driver’s door latch also sometimes sticks.
The engine bay and boot area are both clean and tidy.
The chassis is galvanised.
Please note that the car currently will become classed as ‘historic’ in 2027 and should then no longer require an MOT or road tax and will also become ULEZ exempt.
