Description
Produced from '68 to '82, the 'early' Corvettes (68/ 69) were the most popular C3 models. The shark side gills were superb and the chrome bumpers gave them a vintage look that later models lost with their fibre bumpers. The engines of the previous models (C2) were carried over and in 69, the 327 ci (5. 4 l) was replaced by the brand new and excellent 350 ci (5. 7 l) engine with 300 bhp and 36 m/ kg of torque (at 2800 rpm). As production progressed, the C3 Corvettes saw their power levels drop, reaching 'only' 180 hp in 1980...
The model we are offering here is equipped with this 300bhp 350ci V8 and an automatic gearbox. Power steering, optional side-pipe exhausts, Rallye wheels and, as chosen by a previous owner, the bonnet of the big-block models.
The T-tops of the coupes allow you to drive with your hair blowing in the wind without the disadvantages of the convertible top (noise, waterproofing and durability).
We bought this Corvette in Las Vegas, where it spent most of its time. There is of course no corrosion on the chassis. We gave it a complete overhaul and replaced a number of things including:
Shock absorbers, silent blocks for triangles and stabiliser bars, ball joints, hoses, rebuilt the rear axle, engine mounts, etc. for a total of €7, 500. It runs really well and is very pleasant to drive.
Its only weak point is its paintwork, which in 2/ 3 places shows small cracks in the polyester, a well-known and recurring problem on Corvettes from those years.
We've taken this into account by offering it at an attractive price for a 69. It comes with a one-year warranty and all the necessary documents for French registration, and we'll take care of all the formalities for you. It can be viewed by appointment in the south of Seine et Marne.
