ASTON MARTIN DB6 MKI SALOON RHD 1969 DB6 3542/ R Metallic grey, red leather interior with blue piping The last model produced under the direction of David Brown, in some 1, 700 examples, the DB6, which succeeded the DB5, remains an icon of its generation. With a design close to its predecessor, recognised manufacturing quality and an efficient engine, it was one of Aston Martin's greatest successes.
Considered to be one of the fastest GT cars on the market in its day, thanks in particular to its 4. 0-litre in-line 6-cylinder engine developing more than 280 bhp and its 'Superleggera' structure offering a robust yet lightweight chassis, this example is rather beautifully presented. The bodywork has been redone in the past. The alignments are satisfactory. All the chrome is present and in good condition. The paintwork has a few minor flaws, but the overall impression is good. The red interior is striking. The slightly patinated upholstery, the silky carpets and the dashboard in a combination of red and brushed aluminium give it a very special charm. Note the rare original Webasto sunroof. The power steering and Borg Wagner 3-speed automatic transmission are appreciated. It is equipped with a 4. 0-litre 6-cylinder engine fed by 3 SU HD8 carburettors which have just been completely dismantled and reassembled. It is fitted with adjustable KRYPTON GAZ shock absorbers, a stainless steel exhaust system and a FACET fuel pump. A general inspection of the car was carried out by a professional (with invoices totalling almost €20, 000), together with a carburettor adjustment and check following the recommendations made by the expert. This is a car that has retained all its charm over time. The sober and refined silver grey colour combination with the bright red interior makes this a car of rare elegance.
