It's about one of the rarest front-engined Porsches, produced in Europe in only 3738 examples: the 944 Turbo in its 250 hp version. Launched in 1988, the Turbo S (or Turbo Cup) version represented the pinnacle of the 944 range, with a 2. 5L turbocharged 250 hp, a sharp chassis (M030 suspension, brakes borrowed from the 928 S4, self-locking differential), and a plethora of standard equipment for its time. It was the most powerful front-engined Porsche ever produced, capable of competing with the best sports cars of its time. From 1989 onwards, Porsche made the 250bhp engine available on the 944 Turbo, which gained 30bhp, and offered (as an option) the equipment of the Turbo S on the Turbo. This example is in almost clinical condition (absolutely superb full paintwork, near-new interior) and has been particularly well cared for, with a plethora of invoices to prove it. There are absolutely no costs involved. Designed as an evolution of the 924, it retained the transaxle configuration (front engine, rear gearbox) guaranteeing near-perfect weight distribution, but added an in-house Porsche engine, a 2. 5-litre 4-cylinder, much more noble than the original Audi engine in the 924. Produced from 1982 to 1991, the 944 underwent several evolutions - naturally-aspirated, Turbo, then S and S2 - culminating in the 944 Turbo S, the ultimate and most radical variant, which eventually joined the catalogue until 1991. Too long sidelined by 'purists' because of its transaxle configuration, it nonetheless remains a true Porsche in DNA: driving precision, perfect balance, German build quality.
