Description
Biarritz Sports and Classic Cars (BSCC) is pleased to present this 1966 Ford Mustang Fastback, launched in April 1964. Designed for a young public, it inaugurated the category of pony cars, which are compact and accessible coupés. It was an immediate success, selling over 400, 000 units in its first year, with the Fastback version arriving in 1965. Its sloping roofline gave it a different silhouette to the classic coupé. It featured a fixed tailgate, folding rear seats and improved roadholding. This example dates from 1966, and is a Mustang Fastback (or Sportsroof) powered by the 225bhp 289 ci Code A V8, combined with a rare 4-speed manual gearbox.
It is equipped with the original GT pack, a very rare option that covers only 3. 5% of production. It also has the Rally Pack, with its rev counter and central clock. Its black colour blends well with the red interior, a period combination. Behind the wheel, the car is easy to drive. It looks bigger from the inside than at first glance from the outside. The sound of the 4. 7-litre V8 engine is clearly present. The steering is very supple and the brakes are powerful enough to slow the car down. The mechanical gearbox is this model's plus point. The gears shift a little violently, but what a pleasure. A true Mustang GT Fastback Code A, with the right options, ready to take to the road. This vehicle can benefit from a warranty of up to 12 months and financing of up to 84 months.
