Description
L’Atelier des 1000 is pleased to offer for sale this superb MGA 1600, in an iconic and timeless configuration, British Racing Green paired with a black leather interior.
Produced between 1959 and 1961, the MGA 1600 succeeds the 1500 version with notable improvements, including the adoption of front disc brakes and a slight power increase.
It wonderfully embodies the spirit of post-war English roadsters, blending lightness, driving pleasure and a rakish aesthetic.
With its low, taut lines, its smooth profile and dynamic handling, the MGA remains today one of MG’s most appreciated models.
This 1600 version is more versatile and polished, while preserving the pure design characteristic of the early generations.
The example we offer is a 1960 model year. It arrived in the Netherlands in 1965, where it stayed until its recent arrival in France.
It stands out for its good overall condition, homogeneous presentation and discreet yet effective mechanical improvements.
Mechanically, the original 1. 6L engine has been given careful maintenance. It has now been converted to electronic ignition, significantly improving reliability and starting.
The carburation tuning is fully satisfactory, revs are clean and steady.
Among recent works, the replacement of the ignition loom, spark plugs, coil and dynamo has been noted. The starter is also new, ensuring hesitation-free starting.
The 4-speed manual gearbox offers pleasant handling, with gears that shift smoothly. The clutch slave cylinder and the clutch hoses have been replaced recently.
On the handling side, this MGA has received a welcome update: the original rear Armstrong-type dampers have been replaced with telescopic suspension, notably improving roadholding without betraying the original spirit.
The chassis is sound and the running gear ensures a stable yet lively drive, ideal for dynamic outings.
Braking is effective and balanced. The brake hoses have recently been replaced.
The chrome wire wheels are in good condition and fitted with Vredestein tyres in very good condition.
The British Racing Green paint has a very nice shine, with a homogeneous and flattering patina, in perfect harmony with the vehicle’s age.
The chassis is sound, the sills clean and without any trace of structural corrosion.
The chrome elements are gleaming, and the whole presents well.
The black leather interior is in very good condition, showing a discreet patina that adds authenticity. The Mono-Lita steering wheel is in excellent condition and adds a charming and sporty touch to an interior in very good overall condition.
The dashboard has benefited from the addition of gauges indicating oil temperature, water temperature and battery voltage in addition to the gauges already in place, to ensure reliable and safe everyday use.
Given the configuration, the healthy mechanicals and the recent work undertaken, we are asking for €28, 490. Trade-ins and exchanges considered.
