Description
L’Atelier des 1000 has the pleasure of presenting for sale this superb Jaguar MK2 3. 8, in a combination that is both chic and sporty, dressed in an elegant Gun Metal finish paired with its Cartier red interior.
The MKII was the fastest saloon of its era: a spacious, luxurious and remarkably efficient car, powered by the legendary XK engine whose reputation speaks for itself.
Wedding car, ideal participant for a historic rally or road companion for the Gentleman Driver, the MK2 does it all.
The example we are presenting stands out for significant recent works, a charming patina, a particularly attractive spec and the presence of the yellow lights typical of the French versions.
This example was new on 10/ 07/ 1964; in its life it has had only 3 owners, the last one keeping it for almost 30 years before selling it.
This MKII benefited from €12, 000 of mechanical work last year at a professional specialising in British cars, including notably:
• Full stainless steel exhaust system
• Complete braking overhaul (rigid lines, hoses, rear calipers, master cylinders)
• Cooling hoses + radiator mounts
• Stabiliser bar bushes
• Vredestein tyres
• Clutch master cylinder
• Wiper motor
• Complete carburettor overhaul
• New battery
• Brake assist
A preventive maintenance was carried out before sale, including the replacement of the front discs and the ignition service.
This car has been enriched by a few notable improvements, such as the installation of Coopercraft 4-piston front calipers with aviation hoses to optimise braking, the addition of an electric fan enhancing reliability, and a Moto-Lita steering wheel bringing a chic and sporty touch to the cabin.
Mechanically, the car behaves well, the engine is healthy, it starts easily, with no noise or smoke, and revs up with gusto. The stainless exhaust accentuates the melody of the legendary six-cylinder XK.
The manual gearbox is pleasant to use, while the clutch performs its function perfectly with no signs of wear.
Overdrive is not functional; we can offer its repair as an extra or take the opportunity to convert it to a modern 5-speed!
The running gear shows no abnormal play and the whole package offers a healthy and balanced driving experience.
Braking, fully overhauled and improved, is powerful and reassuring.
The chrome wire wheels are shod with Vredestein tyres in excellent condition.
The paint, though aged, retains a lovely, even shine, while the sills appear healthy and preserved.
The on-board instrumentation is functional, and the wiring loom was refurbished a few years ago.
Finally, the cabin is harmonious, with door panels, carpets and various interior trims replaced a few years ago, contrasting perfectly with the original veneers and red upholstery retained, displaying a particularly seductive patina that gives the whole a charm we cannot help but be drawn to.
Given the spec and condition of this vehicle, we are asking €29, 990. Trade-ins and exchanges considered.
