Dignified successor to the Pagoda, the R107 generation of the SL range was produced for 18 years! From 1971 to 1989, to be precise.
The evolution is significant compared to the Pagode; necessarily we are in the 70s and 80s generations.
Several engine options would come to life during these many years of production.
The Mercedes 450 SL develops 225 hp with its V8 engine, with a genuinely pleasant sound.
NYC's/ OXOTO presents for sale this very handsome specimen delivered to the USA (Portland) in September 1976, in green, light brown leather interior (superb colour combination) totaling less than 141, 000 miles on the odometer.
Quite exceptional, we have a great deal of documents (letters, the registration certificate, the service book, etc) from the period, when this Mercedes was delivered new to its first owner! We even still have the presentation brochure, with the different colours offered at the time! It’s quite crazy to have that with the vehicle.
This superb R107 450 SL arrived in Belgium in July 2016 where it had under 136, 000 miles on the odometer.
The bodywork presents very well, though note various small bubbles in the paint here and there, it’s minor, but of course to be noted. The front bumper is also a little damaged.
The hood/ soft top is in good condition as well but the two lateral wind deflectors have a tiny hole (common), opening and closing are also in order (manual).
We also have a hardtop which is just as handsome, no damage to report.
The interior is really beautiful, very well kept overall. The seats, dashboard, carpets, centre console, door cards, … everything presents very well apart from a defect in the passenger-side door sill (see photo on our site).
The passenger window operation does not work either.
Regarding the mechanicals, although we do not have a recent invoice to present, we confirm that after a test drive of more than 50 km, it runs very well: acceleration, braking, handling, etc, all OK.
The latest MOT report dates from June 2021 (139, 085 miles) and mentions only a minor note about a possible liquid leak, although we have nothing on the ground.
A ramp/ scissor lift is also available in our premises to show the underside of the car.
