The Bonneville T120R, in the years 1967–70, was one of the best bikes on the market—offering versatility and riding pleasure that still feel very relevant today.
The T120R is best enjoyed between 80 and 110 km/ h in 4th gear. Its 47 bhp at 6, 500 rpm arrive right on cue to deliver truly magical sensations. The Bonneville is defined above all by the personality and fabulous torque of its engine.
The big Bonneville family saw many developments, mainly aesthetic at first, before a complete redesign of the styling and the running gear in 1970—and the 1968 and 1969 models are undoubtedly the best of the bunch. The design traditions are still respected, with very rounded lines, the distinctive “sausage” exhaust silencers with their mesmerising sound, plus a few minor technical tweaks that give these versions slightly better reliability and mechanical neatness than earlier models. They were produced from 1959 to 1983 at the English factory in Meriden. Throughout those years, Triumph and Norton between them achieved 80–85% of their sales in the USA.
This one has been restored to a very high standard by Baxter Cycle. It’s fitted with the small tank specific to the U. S. models. It’ll remind you there was a life before ABS and anti-skid—where riding modes were selected by simply turning the throttle!...
