History:
This 1941 Ford Business Coupe was first modified in the 1970s in California to follow the American Customs trend, and it was then altered a second time in the 2000s in a roof-shopped style to match the 1940s Los Angeles look, with the engine group replaced by a more modern Chevrolet 350 ci V8.
Having spent most of its life in the USA, it was imported into England in 2016 for a full restoration (around €200, 000 worth of work between 2016 and 2018).
The owner then undertook a European tour with the car, reliability boosted by new upgrades; starting from England it headed to Le Mans 24 Hours, Lake Como, the Netherlands, Normandy… taking part in various road elegance events, the car won numerous prizes, and in 2023 he was invited to the Goodwood Festival of Speed for the Cartier “Style and Luxury” exhibition. Today in the south of France, it is available for its next enthusiastic owner!
Mechanical:
The 350 ci (5. 7 litre) Chevrolet V8, more modern than the car, runs perfectly and has an entrancing note, paired with a TH350 automatic transmission. All installations were carried out in the 2000s.
The suspension has been upgraded with a bespoke set of dampers and springs.
An electronically adjustable power steering has been fitted.
Exterior condition:
The bodywork has been worked on several times during the car’s life, first in the 1970s in California. Then in the 2000s, to “top-shop” the roof — i. e., cut the pillars to lower the roofline to evoke the 1940s custom prep style. The rear seats of the 2+2 coupe were removed due to the lowered roof height, and a boot was installed in their place.
Then, on arrival in England in 2016, it returned to the bodyshop to meet the new owner’s high standards; it was fully stripped to metal to perfectly prep the body and apply a high-quality Atomic Red paint.
All chrome was redone to the highest standard, and all exterior fittings were rebuilt or replaced.
Interior:
The interior was reworked to measure between 2016 and 2018 to ensure the upholstery is comfortable and harmonious with the rest of the car, with high-quality materials sourced from skilled artisans.
Everything is in perfect condition and has been very well preserved since.
