A very fine example of the famous XJS cabriolet here in a particular variant as it is a limited edition produced in 4000 units in 1996.
Launched on the basis of the original 6-cylinder 249 bhp engine, it is distinguished by its black grille, chromed mirrors, leather and wood steering wheel, AeroSport wheels and the Jaguar stitching on the seat backs.
Top-of-the-range with extra equipment, it notably offers air conditioning, power steering, electric windows, electric mirrors and hood, airbags and speed limiter. Not forgetting its 4-speed automatic gearbox with the “sport” option.
It was delivered new in Florida to its first owner. It stayed there until 2006 before heading to New York, and was imported into France in 2013.
Import approval by Jaguar France's homologation department. Its American history is traceable thanks to the CarFax we have.
The car presents well. The bodywork is in very good condition, the paintwork is glossy as are the chrome elements.
A few signs of wear here and there due to time can be seen.
A pit-visit (underbody check) allowed us to confirm good chassis and underbody condition with no corrosion.
The beige leather interior has been fairly well preserved, though there is some leather ageing which may require conditioning.
The dashboard is in perfect condition, as are the wood trims. The instruments are functional.
On the engine side, it is equipped with its original 4. 0l lump in very good working order.
The automatic gearbox, however, was replaced in 2020 (reconditioned gearbox exchange).
The current owner maintains it regularly, as one would expect, in a specialist workshop:
- Replacement of rear discs and pads (January 2024)
- Re-sealing of the soft-top mechanism
- Complete service (July 2022 - 76, 295 miles)
- ABS unit replacement
- Replacement of rear semi-axle bushings
- Replacement of the brake servo
