Description
Due to age and health, I find myself obliged to pass on this magnificent 1964 Austin Healey 3000 MK3 BJ8 to a new owner who will enjoy driving it and who will also know how to look after it.
This vehicle was fully restored in 2016 by Ets PROVOST, specialists in vintage car restoration in Le Mans (€150, 000 of works).
The car was rebuilt in rally version on the basis of a new chassis. (Restoration file and photos available on request)
The bodywork (wings, front bonnet with louvers, rally-type rear bonnet, tonneau, etc.) is aluminium, fixed polyester hard top, Minilite alloy wheels.
The engine was rebuilt by Denis Welch, specialist in AUSTIN HEALEY, in England. An aluminium Fast Road cylinder head was installed (added intake passages, aluminium valve cover, competition valve springs, increased intake chamber volume), a DWR/ 8 camshaft, forged pistons and a stainless steel exhaust bringing the engine output to around 200 bhp.
The vehicle has been made reliable with the installation of an aluminium radiator with electric fan, a Tork starter, electronic ignition, an alternator and LED headlights.
To address heat in the cabin, the gearbox tunnel has been thermally insulated.
The speedometer is in km/ h and the dashboard instruments have been supplemented with a clock and a battery charge indicator gauge.
The upholstery has been completely redone in black leather, and the dashboard is stainless steel.
Matching-number vehicle in perfect condition of presentation and operation, with which I have covered 30, 000 km since restoration while taking part in numerous rallies in Europe (most recently the tour of Morocco). Historic vehicle registration, price justified, no works required. Servicing and MOT will be carried out for the sale.
The maintenance history since its restoration will be provided to the buyer.
