Description

Saab 93B Granturismo 750, year 1959.
Blue bodied with a blue-green vinyl/ cloth interior enhanced by silver piping. This very special Saab Granturismo 750 originates from the rare second series “B”, of which only four examples are still known!
Sold new in the United States, where it was registered in 1959, it was shipped to the Netherlands in 2018, where it was fully and perfectly restored according to original specifications. No expense spared in the pursuit of perfection.
The body was fully dismantled and restored, the interior redone with new materials and the mechanical components were revised by specialists.
This rare example is in exceptional condition, which will delight discerning collectors. Shown at the New York Auto Show in 1958, the Saab 93 Granturismo 750 was an early attempt to combine sportiness and luxury, an innovative concept for its time. Developed specifically for the American market, it was a modified version of the standard 93B. Its three‑cylinder two‑stroke engine increased from 38 to 50 hp, and a Super version with 57 hp was also available for competition.
These modifications, representing a significant power increase for the era, were carried out by hand in a specialised workshop after leaving the production lines.
The GT750 featured a sporty interior with a specific dashboard, a wooden steering wheel and adjustable seats. It was the first car to be fitted with standard seat belts, notably two-point lap belts. A first limited series was shipped to the United States in mid-1958. Despite initial success, sales declined and production, originally planned at 500–600 units, was reduced to around 250–300 units.
In terms of rarity, this Saab ranks third in Saab history. Four Ursaab prototypes were built between 1946 and 1947, and six Saab 94 Sonnett I prototypes were produced between 1956 and 1957.
The Saab 93B Granturismo 750 comes in third place. It is a unique opportunity to add a genuine museum piece to your Saab collection!
