Description
It’s not just its superb Primrose Yellow colour that makes this magnificent MGB roadster so exceptional. Built in 1967, this MGB is in a state of beauty and perfection of remarkable condition and benefits from a full service history. It’s no coincidence that this MGB roadster won the MG Car Club Holland’s Lustrum elegance competition in 2005. This success is due not only to a meticulous and complete restoration (chassis separated from the body) carried out in the late 1990s, but also to the careful care it has received over the years.
This MGB, produced in 1967, is therefore one of the few examples equipped with a steel dashboard. Arrived in the Netherlands in the 1990s, it then underwent a full professional restoration. It was registered in the Netherlands in 2000. Since then, it has been maintained with the greatest care and a true passion. This is evidenced by the numerous maintenance invoices, but above all by its exceptional condition. In addition, the car has benefited from various technical improvements for optimal driving pleasure.
Its superb Primrose Yellow finish is in excellent condition and sports a deep, bright sheen. The chrome and trim are also of exceptional beauty and shine. The rubber seals and finishes are also in very good condition. The body panels line up perfectly and the doors close solidly. The car is fitted with a tonneau cover and the hood is also in excellent condition. The wire wheels with chromed knock-off spinners are not only particularly stylish but also in exceptional, near‑new condition.
The interior is stunning and in excellent condition. The upholstery has been completely redone during the restoration. The matching black carpets and black leather seats (with elegant white piping) are new. The dashboard is also in excellent condition and all instruments function correctly. The elegant wooden steering wheel offers a comfortable, firm grip and harmonises perfectly with the interior. Moreover, the seats are not only gorgeous but also exceptionally comfortable. This MGB was fully restored in the 1990s and has benefited from numerous technical improvements. The engine was replaced with a fully rebuilt standard Ivor Searle exchange engine (tuned for unleaded fuel), and the carburettors were also fully rebuilt. Additionally, the engine is equipped with electronic ignition, an extra oil cooler and a higher-capacity radiator. Alongside leaf springs, new Koni shock absorbers have been fitted on all four wheels, as well as a stainless steel exhaust system. The result is a MGB in perfect running order, in exceptional condition. The car is not only beautiful to look at on the outside, but everything under the bonnet also looks almost new.
And this is also how this superb MGB Roadster drives. It is undoubtedly a pleasant and comfortable roadster, delivering smooth and precise handling and braking. The engine responds with precision and spontaneity to the accelerator, and the brakes are firm and reliable. In short, a magnificent classic in perfect condition!
