The 205 T16 is one of the French cars that are rarest and most sought-after in the 1980s. Many manufacturers entered rallying in Group B, where cars were wilder than one another.
But to participate, you first had to sell 200 road-going examples.
That is what Peugeot did with the 205 T16. Beyond its rarity, this 205 is not like the others. Indeed, Peugeot Sport’s engineers completely rebuilt the little city car.
If the engine remains a 1. 8‑litre four-cylinder, it is placed in a central‑rear position in this T16 version. With the help of a turbo, it develops 200 bhp for a car weighing only 1, 100 kg. It is also the only 205 to benefit from four‑wheel drive.
This model offered for sale has only 12, 000 km on the clock. Factory despatched in December 1984, it received its first registration in 1986. It was subsequently exported to Japan in 1992 and remained dormant in a private collection. It is only in December 2021 that this marvel awoke from its slumber to surface in France in 2022.
