Description
Panhard & Levassor, "La firme doyenne d’avant-garde" quickly earned its noble credentials thanks to Émile Levassor, who, as a pioneer, understood very early that motor racing was the best vehicle for communication and promotion. Panhard & Levassor was present on the starting line of the major motor racing events of the late 19th and into the 20th century. Repeated successes had such resonance that order books filled quickly and the Ivry firm became the world’s first exporting manufacturer.
The Type X Panhard & Levassor was introduced in 1907, the only shaft-driven model that year.
For 1908, it received a larger engine of 4, 072 cm3 delivering 18 hp, with U2 chain drive and was designated Type X1.
Only 28 examples were built up to January 1913.
Acquired in the 1990s by a prominent Bordeaux collector, our X1 was completely dismantled and revised by a specialist in antiques. He fitted it with this original and elegant lightweight-era bodywork, which also gives it the inimitable patina of a high-quality vintage restoration.
Thanks to its lightweight body and the power of its engine, this PANHARD & LEVASSOR will readily tackle historic rallies.
