Description

FOR SALE: EVOCATION OF MG B RALLYE MONTE-CARLO 1964.
I must part with this MG B with some regret, as at 76 it’s getting tough for me to get in and out! I’m therefore going to buy another more spacious classic car. This advert is aimed only at real connoisseurs of old, British cars... Others... please move along!
Back in 2020, during the Covid crisis, online, thanks to a scale model, I discovered that the MG B won in 1964 the famous Monte-Carlo Rally, in its category... This car, known as “MG B 7DBL” (its registration number during the Rally) is very famous in England, see the last archive photo.
It wore the same colour and the same Mk1 configuration as my 1965 Mk1 Cabriolet…! So I decided to create an “evocation” of this famous car based on my cabriolet completely restored from A to Z in 2016, by a recognised specialist.
To stay true to the rally spirit and maximise the reliability of this evocation, I made a large number of improvements.
The car currently presents itself, corrosion-free, with a very nice hard top imported from England, fitted with bespoke stainless steel fixings.
On the engine side, it is equipped with a large-valve cylinder head for unleaded, an oil radiator, an electronic fuel pump and universal electronic ignition, competition K&N air filters, a very efficient 7‑blade cooling fan, and an oil filter kit with a modern cartridge… And for fun, a pretty aluminium rocker cover.
For safety, installation of seat belts with stainless fittings and a kill switch, competition MG brake pads as well as additional long-range headlights. For road-holding, a strengthened anti-roll bar for kart-like steering, and at the rear polyurethane bushings on reinforced suspension blades.
From my documentation on the “7DBL” I fitted all the stickers, custom-made by a specialist company to get as close as possible to the era’s celebrity.
Today the beauty runs like clockwork… In a leather interior, with an ideal driving position, hands on the Motolita wheel, everything is in excellent presentation, with operation near to new… No suspicious noises, creaks or vibrations disturb its progress on the road… Just the music of its stainless exhaust.
Early 2017 I bought my cabriolet for €26, 000, a price slightly below the expert’s valuation at the time… And in 9 years, the MG B’s value has only risen… The creation of this “evocation” cost me over €3, 500, not counting my two hundred hours of work at a minimum!
Consequently my asking price is not inflated, all the more so since the engine has covered only 10, 000 km since its restoration…
The reliability reputation of the MG B is well established, and you can really find ALL spare parts at affordable prices!
Mind you, the beauty still sleeps in its garage and does not come out in the rain! I have kept all invoices, the appraisal report, and the restoration photo dossier… as well as the hood which is in perfect condition.
I wish to sell this car to a connoisseur who will take care of it, as I have, with great care…
